THE HISTORY

Lewisville Feed Mill was opened in 1885 by J.W. Degan and was a family-owned business for 124 years. It was the oldest continuously operating business in Lewisville when it closed in 2010. The final operator was James Polser, Degan’s great-grandson. The mill started at the livery stable on the corner of Main and Mill streets.

It later traded places with the Huffines automobile dealership, moving into the former City Garage immediately east of its original location. The building was purchased from Polser’s family by Jim Murray and converted into a restaurant space in 2019. It is operating as Prairie House restaurant in 2022.
