THE HISTORY
The Texas International Pop Festival was held Labor Day weekend in 1969, drawing crowds estimated at 80,000-120,000 for three days of live music featuring such stars as Janis Joplin, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin and Santana. Paid concerts were held at Dallas International Speedway (southeast of FM 3040 and 35E); camping and free concerts were at Lewisville Lake Park.
